Basement Roof

Now that the trusses are in, it's time to lay the plywood.  Again, we had lots of help from family and friends.  Once we got the "process" going, the job went smooth.  The plywood has a tongue and groove connection, so it was important to lay everything correctly and be precise.  In addition to nailing it down, it was important to glue the plywood to the trusses to ensure stability and no future squeaks!

Martin and the boys pounding in the nails.
We used a nail gun, but the compressor wasn't strong enough to nail it all the way in.  The boys went around hammering in the final stage.  Well, they did it long enough for a cute picture.  After that, they were done for the day!

Hey, it's looking good!  We're almost done!

This section (where you see the ladder protruding) will be the staircase from the main floor to the basement.  It is designed to have a large opening, allowing plenty of light down into the basement.

These last two photos are views from the basement.
